Between October 18 and 26, the SBCS is holding the 15th Soil Classification and Correlation Meeting (RCCs). Over the course of eight days, participants will travel through the wide alluvial plains of the Middle Amazon River and surrounding regions, under Amazonian forest, campinaranas and cerrado vegetation. They will travel 1,400 km along highways AM-070, BR-174, AM-010, BR-163, side roads and river stretches.

The Soil Classification and Correlation Meetings (RCCs) are events that bring together professionals linked to soil classification in the face of soil profiles representative of a given environment, region or state. The soil profiles and their respective environments are pre-selected in a field campaign by experienced pedologists, who assess aspects such as environmental representativeness (modal profiles), lack of studies and the recognized need to improve diagnostic criteria for their appropriate taxonomic classification in the Brazilian Soil Classification System (SiBCS).

The event is promoted by the SBCS Western Amazon Regional Center (NRAO) and organized by Embrapa Western Amazon (CPAA), Embrapa Eastern Amazon (CPATU), Embrapa Soils (CNPS), Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), Amazonas State University (UEA).
