Esalq/USP and CCARBON/USP

A study published in Communications Earth & Environment, part of the Nature group, and led by researchers from Esalq/USP and CCARBON/USP, showed that global scientific production on soil health has grown significantly over the past decade — 52% of the articles were published in the last 5 years and 74% in the last 10 years.

According to Professor Maurício Roberto Cherubin, from the Department of Soil Science at Esalq/USP and researcher at CCARBON/USP, one of the authors of the article, the topic has been attracting increasing interest from academia, the productive sector, and public policy makers.

Cherubin highlights that healthy soils are fundamental to planetary and human health, supporting the production of food, fiber, and bioenergy, promoting carbon sequestration, serving as a habitat for biodiversity, and regulating water and nutrients — all essential functions for sustainability and climate resilience.
