Until February 17, the pre-registration period for the XVI Brazilian Meeting of Soil Classification and Correlation (XVI RCC) is open. With the theme “What does Bahia have?”, The technical-scientific event will explore the Bahian pedestrian diversity, between October 25 and November 1 this year. It will be the first CCR made entirely in Bahian soils.

The technical excursion will go through distinct environments of Bahia, providing the researchers an integrated analysis between soils and landscapes of the São Francisco Valley, Chapada Diamantina, Irecê Plato, the Sertanejo Pediplane, the International Tabuleiros and the Bahia of Bahia. The XVI RCC route will pass through the cities of Juazeiro, Senhor do Bonfim, Morro do Chapéu, Feira de Santana, Santo Amaro and Salvador. About 1,100 km will be traveled along the BR-407, BR-324, BA-144, BA-052, BR-420 and back roads.

XVI RCC organizers explain that pre-registration will not guarantee automatic vacancy to participate in the event. The goal is to obtain information about potential stakeholders, enabling a different audience within the limit of 80 vacancies available for the trip.

After the period for pre-registration, the Organizing Committee will select 80 candidates among pre-registered, maintaining a waiting list. The selected will receive guidance on the procedures for confirmation of the registration, which will be made upon payment of the registration fee.

The XVI RCC, whose main objective is to contribute to the improvement of the Brazilian Soil Classification System (SIBCs), is promoted by the Brazilian Soil Science Society (SBCS) and organized by the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB) and the Department of Soils of the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), in partnership with Embrapa Soils, Federal Institute (If Baiano-Santa) Cruz (UESC), Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and Federal University of São Francisco Valley (Univasf).
